Think, Think, Think

Wesley tonight, tapped his finger on his mouth three times and said "think, think, think". Where does he get these things?

Rainy Day Entertaining

Before our power went out on Thursday, I got to pick Wesley up early from daycare. I was trying to keep him entertained with his favorite thing in the whole world....CHRISTMAS! Every day I hear "Christmas is coming! Soon!" And I have to tell him that Christmas is not a person, but a day, kind of like Halloween but different because instead of going to get treats, Santa Claus brings treats here to the house. And then I always try to throw something about Jesus in there but my explanation isn't working out too well....

Nor'Easter '09

Finally, I'm back online! From my warm and brightly lit living room. I <3 electricity.

Past few days have been a mess weather-wise. We've been getting remnants of Hurricane Ida or whatever that things name was. Work even closed early yesterday, and let me tell you that neeeever happens. This area is just getting worse every year with the flooding. Or maybe I'm just noticing it more now that I'm a "grown-up". :)

Last night I was fixing dinner and Wesley was in his high chair watching his "shows" when the power went out. Pitch black.

"I'm scared mommy".

"Don't be scared baby, I'm right here" (as I try to make it to the living room and smack into the wall in the kitchen).

So we played leggos and blocks by candlelight, took a bath by toy lantern (also how I showered this morning) and after little man was in bed, I read a magazine by flashlight and polished off a carton of icecream. Hey it was going to go bad anyway...

Luckily, our big freezer still had frozen food in it this morning and Jeff took it all to Nikki's house so it wouldn't go bad. Our power came back on around 5 p.m. - almost a full 24 hours after it went out.

I'm feeling quite thankful right now - but not looking forward to cleaning out the fridge tomorrow morning. :)

Fall/Halloween 2009

Trip to the pumpkin patch with Wesley, Jeff and Aunt Nik Nik - Wesley wasn't feeling very well but had fun. (Found out on Monday that he had the flu (swine flu?), he's completely better now).

I tried to get him to pick a small/medium sized pumpkin but every single one he picked up in the patch he said was "too big" and he would throw it down. I probably should have paid for about 15 bruised pumpkins that day. :)

He finally settled on 3 small gourds (you know, the really cute tiny ones?). They were perfect size for Wesley.

He also got to pet some goats and see some of the other farm animals and Aunt Nik Nik took him on his very first pony ride. There was a bounce house that he got to play in too.

The best part? I only paid $7 AND we got a free hayride out to the pumpkin patch.

Wesley enjoyed carving his pumpkin - if I can figure out how to download the video I will - he was singing "happy birthday" to it.

And one from Halloween - I was super happy with his costume and he even kept his hat on! His bucket started to get really full and he kept saying "too high" which I guess meant "too heavy". I'm looking forward to Halloween next year - the older he gets the funner the holidays are for me!

First Post

Can I tell you a couple of secrets?

This isn't the first time I've started a blog. Or the second...or third...

Also, I'm not really a "Feken". But I may as well be. And we are a family, so, count me in.

Welcome to the new blog.
